Common questions

How much does it cost in total to register a UK trademark?
For a single class, the total is £370: our professional fee of £200 plus the UKIPO official fee of £170. Each additional class adds £125 (professional fee) plus £50 (UKIPO fee). From 1 April 2026, UKIPO fees increase to £205 for the first class and £60 per additional class. Our professional fees remain unchanged.
How long does it take to register a trademark?
We file your application within 48 hours of receiving instructions and payment. The UKIPO examines it within 2–4 weeks, then publishes it for a 2-month opposition period. If no one opposes, your trademark is registered — typically 3–4 months total.
What if the UKIPO raises an objection?
Standard objections (classification issues, specification amendments, formality queries) are handled by us at no extra cost. If the UKIPO raises a substantive distinctiveness objection under Section 3 of the Trade Marks Act 1994, we advise you on options and quote for the additional work before proceeding.
Can I register a trademark myself?
Yes, you can file directly with the UKIPO for £170. However, if you select the wrong class, miss a conflicting mark, or draft a weak specification, the application may be refused and the fee is non-refundable. Our professional fee covers the expertise to get it right first time.
Are you regulated?
Yes. Santosh Pandey is a practising Solicitor regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority. All work is conducted under the SRA Code of Conduct, and he is personally accountable to the SRA at all times. You can verify his registration independently at sra.org.uk.
What about the UKIPO fee increase in April 2026?
The UKIPO has confirmed that official fees will increase from 1 April 2026 — the first trademark fee increase since 1998. A single-class application rises from £170 to £205 (20% increase). If you file before 1 April, you pay the current rate. Our professional fees remain unchanged regardless.
How long does a UK trademark last?
A UK registered trademark lasts 10 years from the filing date and can be renewed indefinitely in 10-year periods.
Do you handle EU and India trademarks too?
Yes. EU trademarks are filed through our correspondent agent at a flat €500 professional fee for up to 3 classes (plus EUIPO official fees). India trademarks are £120 per class all-inclusive, filed by Santosh directly as a qualified Indian Advocate.
